STEM

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It gives children opportunities to explore, investigate, and problem-solve in creative and practical ways. Through STEM, children are encouraged to think critically, work together, and apply their learning to everyday life.

The STEM area includes two main subjects:

Mathematics: guided by the Primary Mathematics Curriculum, introduced in 2023. It focuses on developing children’s understanding, reasoning, problem-solving, and ability to apply maths in real-life contexts. At Scoil Mhuire Brierhill, we make maths engaging through station teaching, playful approaches, and the use of maths journals, helping children to talk about, reflect on, and record their learning.
