Chess

Chess is an important and enjoyable part of school life in the senior classes at Sacred Heart NS Williamstown. Pupils are given opportunities to learn the rules of chess, develop their skills and strategies, and challenge their classmates in friendly games. Playing chess encourages children to develop concentration, problem-solving, patience and logical thinking, while also promoting good sportsmanship and respect for others. Our pupils also enjoy the opportunity to represent the school in local chess competitions, including the Cloonfad NS Chess Tournament, where they can test their skills against pupils from other schools. These tournaments are a great social and educational experience and help to foster a lasting enjoyment of chess among our pupils.
